Summer 2007

  • Mark Brock (’04, ’05) and his wife, Charity, are rejoicing over the birth of their second child. Addison Jane was born on May 18. Mark is the pastor of a church planting work, Crossway Baptist Church in Bakersfield, CA.

Spring 2007

  • John Aloisi (’02, ’06) and his wife, Marcia, are thanking the Lord for the safe arrival of their third child. Elizabeth was born on March 2. John is working on his Ph. D. in church history at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY.

  • Aric Manore (‘00) and Bob McCabe (‘05) have both relocated to the Phoeniz, AZ area with their families and are preparing for the launch of a church planting effort. The two men are teaming up to establish a fundamental Baptist church in or near Peoria, AZ, located northwest of Phoenix. That area is growing rapidly and has a great need for more Fundamentalist churches.

Winter 2006-07

  • Tim Dysert (’99) and his wife, Alice, were back home on furlough this summer and fall. They have been serving as missionaries in Spain with Baptist World Mission. Tim was able to preach in the DBTS chapel in November. The Dyserts returned to Spain at the end of December.

  • Scott Goodwill (’85) has accepted a call to serve as senior pastor at Berean Baptist Church in Lafayette, IN. His ministry there began in early February. He had previously served churches in Wisconsin and Minnesota.

  • Rob Howell (’00) and his wife, Kara, were back home on furlough this summer and fall. They have been serving as missionaries in Tanzania with Grace Baptist Mission. Rob was able to preach in chapel at DBTS in October. He also had an opportunity to teach an adult elective missions class at Inter-City Baptist Church on “Understanding the Indigenous Church Planting Process.” The Howells returned to Tanzania in early January.

  • Shawn Rittmiller (’02) and his wife, Dawn, recently welcomed the arrival of their fourth child. Veronica Kathleen was born on January 21, 2007. Shawn continues to serve as the pastor of First Baptist Church in Freeland, Michigan.

  • David Smith (’01) and his wife, Heather, are praising the Lord for allowing them to adopt a son, Sullivan Riley. Sully spent several months in NICU following his birth on January 16, 2007. Dave is the pastor of Western Avenue Baptist Church in Avondale, AZ.

Fall 2006

  • Bryan Brock (’03) and his wife, Rebecca, are rejoicing over the birth of their third child. Grant Wyndham was born on November 17. Bryan is the church planting pastor of Life Pointe Baptist Church in Apple Valley, CA.

  • Russell Gilbert (’04) moved to Utah in May to begin serving as a church plant assistant with Matt Ortega at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Orem, Utah. Russell and his wife, Michellyn, are also grateful for the safe birth of their twin daughters, Collette and Cate, born on July 29.

  • Jonathan Lont ('05) and his wife, Jennifer, rejoice at the birth of their first child. Andrew Wallace was born September 26, 2006. Jonathan is currently serving at Huron Baptist Church in Flat Rock, MI.

  • Allen Mickle, Jr. (’04, ’05) recently began serving as Administrative Assistant to the Principal at Toronto Baptist Seminary and Bible College. He has also begun work on his Ph.D. program through the University of Wales in Lampeter, UK.

  • Jason Parker (’03) is pastor of High Country Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, CO, planted in August 2005. The church convened a recognition council of pastors from around the state on August 26, 2006. After examining the church’s organizing documents and doctrinal statement, the pastors enthusiastically welcomed HCBC into fellowship. HCBC observed its official chartering service on September 10, 2006. Dr. Pearson Johnson from Inter-City Baptist Church and DBTS was present to preach.

  • Adam Taubert (’06) and his wife, Jessica, are thanking the Lord for the birth of their second child. Ava Rose was born on October 21st. Adam serves as the pastor of Ambassador Baptist Church in Royal Oak, MI.

  • Jeff Watters (’84) just returned from a year-long tour of duty in Kuwait/Iraq. He serves as an active duty chaplain in the US Army. His new assignment involves serving as chaplain for the Training Brigade of the 1st Armored Division at Fort Knox, KY.

  • Mike West (’01) and his family moved in late October. Mike is now the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Susanville, CA. He had previously served as a church planter in Santa Rosa, CA.

Summer 2006

  • Doug Adamson (’99, ‘02) and his wife, Sharon, are rejoicing in the birth of their third child. Hannah Kathleen Joy was born on June 8, 2006. Doug is the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

  • John Aloisi (’02, ’06) has begun his Ph.D. studies in church history at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY. John served as the Assistant Librarian at DBTS for four years.

  • Ryan Coon (’06) and his wife, Jessica, have been blessed with their first child. Alex Steven was born on June 29.

  • Kyle Dunham (’02, ‘06) has begun his Th.D. studies in Old Testament at The Master’s Seminary in Sun Valley, CA.

  • T. J. Klapperich (’96, ‘03) began serving in August as senior pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Winter Garden, FL. He had served for eleven years on the staff at  First Baptist Church in Troy, MI, first as a Bible teacher in the Christian school, and for the past eight years as an assistant pastor.

  • Scott Mikel (’98) and his wife, Kelly, are praising the Lord for the birth of their fourth child. Gavin was born on May 3. Scott is the pastor at Evangel Community Church in Southfield, MI.

  • Ed Williams (’82, ’89) went home to be with the Lord on June 17. He had endured a long struggle with cancer. Ed had served faithfully for many years as a pastor and Bible college professor.


Spring 2006

  • Mark Brock (’04, ’05) has relocated to Bakersfield, CA, where he is preparing for the first service of Crossway Baptist Church in October.

  • Rodney Decker (Th.M., ’81) was the speaker for the 2006 William R. Rice Lecture Series. His address was titled, “Is It Better to Bury or to Burn? A Biblical Perspective on Cremation and Christianity in Western Culture.”

  • Dan Greenfield (‘00) is rejoicing over a new meeting location for The Bible Church of Orwell. That ministry is completing its first year as a church plant.

  • Dale Hibshman (’04) is preparing for the first service of Spring Hill Baptist Church in Shelby Township, MI, in September.

  • Allen Mickle, Jr. (’04, ’05) has begun serving in a pastoral internship at Grace Baptist Church in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

  • Timothy Overturf ('83) is serving as a chaplain in the US Navy. He is currently assigned to work with the Marines at Camp LeJeune, NC.

  • Jeff Peterson (‘05) is preparing for the launch this spring of a church plant north of St. Paul, MN. Hope Spring Baptist Church is being planted in Hugo, MN.

  • Matt Postiff (’05) and his wife, Naomi, are thanking the Lord for the birth of their son. John William was born on January 28th.

  • Matt Postiff (’05) is now the senior pastor at Fellowship Bible Church in Ann Arbor, MI. He had previously served there for four years as Assistant Pastor under the retiring pastor, Dr. Raymond Saxe.

  • Tim Potter (’05) began his work as the senior pastor of Grace Church in Mentor, OH, on January 1, 2006. He had served as the assistant pastor at the church for the previous fourteen years.

  • Dave Saxton (’01) led a team from Falls Berean Bible Church in Cuyahoga Falls, OH, on a ministry tip to Cambodia in January. The focus of the trip was to support missionary Chris Seawright (’02) in his church planting efforts there in Cambodia. Chris played an important support role in the early efforts of planting FBBC.

  • Dwight Schultz (’05) was ordained to the gospel ministry on February 19th after being examined in regard to his personal testimony and doctrinal beliefs. Dwight serves as assistant pastor at First Baptist Church in Sterling Heights with senior pastor Del Ward (’00).

  • Jeffrey Watters ('84) is serving as a chaplain in the US Army. He is currently assigned to a unit operating in Kuwait and Iraq.

  • Christian Wright (‘03), in February, accepted the call to serve as senior pastor at Auglaize Bible Church in Lima, OH.

  • Noah Young (‘00) (’05) has begun a new ministry with Answers in Genesis in Petersburg, KY, where he serves as Event Coordinator.

Fall-Winter 2005-06

  • Mark Brock (’04) began deputation in July for church planting work in Bakersfield, CA. He is being sent out from the church in which he served during seminary, First Baptist Church of Capac, MI. He is working through Grace Baptist Mission, a ministry of Inter-City Baptist Church.

  • Michael Carey (’01) has returned to his native Ireland and is busy serving as a bi-vocational church planter. A weekly Bible study has been started in Dungarvan and things are progressing well. Michael is operating under the oversight of his home church, Clonmel Baptist Church in Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland.

  • Scott Estell (’95) began serving as the new pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Sun Prairie, WI, on August 28. An Installation Service was held by the church on Sunday, October 16.

  • Daniel Greenfield (’00) and his wife, Trisha, are praising the Lord for the safe arrival of their daughter. Lydia Grace was born on September 1.

  • Matt Howell (’04) observed the first service of South Point Baptist Church in Brunswick, GA on September 18.

  • Glen Huguenin (’90) recently observed his 10th year as the Pastor of Community Bible church in Davis, WV. This past May he was also privileged to take his third short-term ministry trip to Kiev, Ukraine. While there he taught a course on the Pauline Epistles at the Titus Bible Institute.

  • Curt Leonard (’05) and his wife, Jenny, are thanking the Lord for the birth of their first child. Daniel Brock was born on August 12.

  • Matt Ortega (’04) observed the first service of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Lehi, UT, on August 28. Matt and Jeannie are also grateful for the birth of their daughter. Sarah Emily was born on September 16.

  • Jason Parker (’03) observed the first service of High Country Baptist Church in Colorado Springs, CO, on September 11. Jason and Monica are also thanking the Lord for the birth of their daughter, Lydia, on August 5.

  • Joel Tetreau (’95) received his Doctor of Ministry degree in May from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Plymouth, MN. His final project was entitled, "The Deacons’ Role in the Decision-Making Process at Southeast Valley Baptist Church." Joel serves as the senior pastor at Southeast Valley Baptist Church in Chandler, AZ.

  • Jeff Watters (’84) is a chaplain (MAJ) in the US Army. He is currently deployed overseas in the Gulf region.

  • Dan Winnberg (’03) and his wife, Meredith, are thankful for the birth of their daughter. Mackenzie Quinn arrived on October 20.


Summer 2005

  • John Aloisi (’02) and his wife, Marcia, are grateful to the Lord for the birth of their second child. Micah John was born on April 20. John serves as the Assistant Librarian at DBTS and is also working to complete a Master of Theology degree.

  • Bryan Brock (’03) held the first service for Life Point Baptist Church in Apple Valley, CA, on April 10. There were 135 people in attendance. Only fifteen were friends or relatives who had come in to assist with the first service. Many of those have continued to attend in subsequent weeks and several have come to trust Christ.

  • Mark Brock (’04) and his wife, Charity, are thanking the Lord for the birth of their first child. Sydney Alivia was born on March 31. Mark serves as the youth pastor at First Baptist Church in Capac, MI. He was ordained to the gospel ministry there on June 12.

  • Scott Estell (’95) has been called to serve as the senior pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Sun Prairie, WI. His first Sunday as pastor of the church will be August 28. Scott had been a member of Tri-Lakes Baptist Church in Brighton, MI, along with his wife, Cindy, and their children. He had served faithfully there as assistant pastor since 1995.

  • Daniel Habegger (’02) has been called to serve as the senior pastor at Northland Baptist Church in Hannibal, WI. He had previously served as an assistant pastor at Huron Baptist Church in Flat Rock, MI, where he attended with his wife, Cheryl, while a student in seminary. Daniel's first official Sunday at the church as pastor was May 29.

  • Rob Reece (’00) was ordained to the gospel ministry on May 8 by Pine Grove Baptist Church in Goodrich, MI. Rob planted that church in 2003. Many area pastors and the faculty of the seminary were present for the doctrinal examination on May 6.

  • Jonathan Robertson (’02, ’05) has been called to serve as the senior pastor at Faith Baptist Church in Portage, WI. He had previously served as an assistant pastor at First Baptist Church in Hazel Park, MI, where he attended with his wife, Hope, while a student in seminary. Jonathan’s first official Sunday at the church as pastor was May 1.

  • David Smith (’01) and his wife, Heather, continue to serve at Western Avenue Baptist Church in Avondale, AZ, where he is the pastor. Dave has been enjoying the opportunity to serve as an adjunct professor at International Baptist College in Tempe, AZ. His current assignment is teaching two different courses in the Systematic Theology program.

Spring 2005

  • Bryan Brock (’03)—Lifepoint Baptist Church in Apple Valley, CA, is in the foundational stages of formation. Scores of people around the country participated this past month in the “Phones for You” program in support of the Brocks. This effort resulted in 25,000 phone contacts, revealing 1,500 people who agreed to be placed on an initial mailing list. Several families contacted began meeting with Bryan for Bible studies even before the official first service, which was held on April 10.

  • Rob Howell (’01)—Rob Howell and coworker Steve Sanders, with the support of Inter-City Baptist Church and Grace Baptist Mission, have begun The Tumaini Project for the children of Tanzania. Tumaini is a Swahili word meaning “hope.” Through this orphanage ministry, which also satisfies government requirements for remaining in the country, they desire to see many children saved and future leaders discipled.

  • Dave Saxton (’01)—Berean Bible Church, planted by Dave in 2002, recently merged with Falls Community Church to form Falls Berean Bible Church in Cuyahoga Falls, OH. The first service of FBBC was held on March 13. Dave continues as the senior pastor of the church. This has provided the congregation with a beautiful facility of its own, eliminating the need to rent the local YMCA for services. Many faithful believers have also been added to the congregation.

  • Chris & Heidi Seawright (’02) are rejoicing in the birth of their son. Isaac Martyn arrived on January 26 and was born in Bangkok, Thailand. Chris and Heidi are serving in Cambodia as missionaries under Gospel Fellowship Association. Isaac was named after Henry Martyn, the pioneer missionary to India and the Middle East.

Winter 2004-05

  • Dan Bender (’03) recently accepted a call to be the pastor at Sinclairville Baptist Church in Sinclairville, NY. His first Sunday at the church as pastor was November 21. Dan was also ordained to the gospel ministry by Inter-City Baptist Church on November 14.

  • Bryan Brock (’03) is now living in Apple Valley, CA and is nearing the end of deputation. Efforts are ongoing for a church plant in the Apple Valley area. His sending church is Faith Baptist Church in Warren, MI and he is serving with Baptist World Mission. On December 11 Bryan and his wife, Rebecca, were blessed with the birth of a beautiful little girl, Kate Leann.

  • Alan Cole (’85, ’89) earned the Doctor of Theology degree in Systematic Theology from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Plymouth, MN. His dissertation title was “A Critique of Pre-wrath Rapturism’s Terminus A Quo of the Day of the Lord.” Dr. Cole teaches at Faith Baptist Bible College in Ankeny, IA.

  • Tim Davis (’03) recently accepted a call to be the senior pastor at Grace Baptist Church in Waterford, MI. His first Sunday at the church as pastor was November 21.

  • Dan Greenfield (’00) has accepted a church planting opportunity in the northeastern Ohio community of Orwell. He is currently on deputation and hopes to begin work with the core group on a full-time basis in February. Dan is being sent out by Grace Church in Mentor, OH.

  • Matt Ortega (’04) is currently on deputation and will be moving soon to the Provo, UT area to begin a church plant. He is being sent out by First Baptist Church in Troy, MI.

  • Jason Parker (’03) is currently on deputation and will be moving soon to the Colorado Springs, CO area to begin a church plant. He is being sent out by Inter-City Baptist Church in Allen Park, MI and is serving under Grace Baptist Mission.

  • Mark Perry (’03) serves as the Assistant Pastor of Westerville Bible Church in Westerville, OH. He was ordained to the gospel ministry there this fall.

  • Pearson Johnson (’01) received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY on December 10. His dissertation focused on developing personal evangelism training within the context of the Adult Bible Fellowships of the local church. Pearson serves as the Assistant Pastor for Evangelism and Missions at Inter-City Baptist Church.

  • Dave Saxton (’01) and his wife, Mary Beth, are thanking the Lord for the safe arrival of their third daughter, Rebecca Anne. She was born on October 5th. Dave serves as pastor of Berean Bible Church in Cuyahoga Falls, OH.

  • Nathan Young (’02) is the pastor of Live Oak Baptist Church in Buford, GA. The church observed its chartering service on August 8. Pastor Pearson Johnson from Inter-City Baptist Church was present for the events of that weekend and preached in the services.

Fall 2004 Update

  • Scott Estell (’95) and his wife, Cindy, are rejoicing over the birth of their fifth child (and first girl!). Bethany Grace was born on July 15. Scott serves as the Assistant Pastor at Tri-Lakes Baptist Church in Brighton, Michigan.

  • Matt Ortega (’04) was ordained to the gospel ministry on Sunday, June 6. He is currently on deputation under Baptist World Mission for church planting ministry near Provo, Utah. Matt’s sending church is First Baptist Church in Troy, Michigan.

  • Shawn Rittmiller (’02) and his wife, Dawn, were recently blessed with their third child. Ethan was born on April 27. Shawn serves as the pastor of First Baptist Church in Freeland, MI.

  • Jonathan Robertson (’02) was ordained to the gospel ministry on May 16 at First Baptist Church in Hazel Park, Michigan. He has served on staff at the church for five years while completing his M.Div. and Th.M. studies.

  • Daniel Winnberg (’03) and his wife, Meredith, are thanking the Lord for their second child. Megan Alexandra was born on July 29. Dan serves as the head of the Information Technology Department at Inter-City Baptist Church. He is also working on the Master of Theology degree at DBTS.

Summer 2004 Update

  • Dr. Daniel R. Brown (‘82, ‘83) has joined the faculty of Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Plymouth, MN as an Associate Professor of Pastoral Theology.

  • Billy Gotcher (‘94) has accepted a call to serve as the new senior pastor at Berea Baptist Church in Palm Harbor, FL (Clearwater area) beginning June 1st.

  • Sam Hendrickson (‘03) held the first service of Westside Baptist Church on May 16, 2004. This church is located near Grand Rapids, MI. The sponsoring church for this church plant is First Baptist Church in Sterling Heights, pastored by Del Ward (’00).

  • Dave Saxton (’01) had an article, “The Concerns of a Young Fundamentalist,” published in the April 2004 issue of The Visitor (Ohio Bible Fellowship). Dave is the pastor of a recent church plant, Berean Bible Church in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio (Akron area).

  • Mark Snoeberger (’99, ‘01) had an article published in the Spring 2004 issue of The Master’s Seminary Journal. It was titled, “Second-Blessing Models of Sanctification and Early Dallas Dispensationalism." Mark serves as the DBTS Librarian.

  • Dr. Jeff Straub (‘94) has joined the faculty of Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Plymouth, MN as Visiting Lecturer of Historical & Systematic Theology.

Spring 2004 Update

  • Doug Adamson (‘99, ‘02) and his wife Sharon now have two little boys. Matthew Gerald Bruce Adamson was born on March 2. He weighed in at 6 lbs, 3 oz and was 20 inches long. Doug is the pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

  • Sam Hendrickson (’03) was ordained to the gospel ministry on February 15. He is being sent out by First Baptist Church in Sterling Heights as a church planter. His plans are to establish an independent Baptist church in Georgetown Township located west of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

  • Pearson Johnson (’01), along with Ben Eckman (SGI) had their article, “Missions is a Task, Not a Trip or Trivia,” published in the January/February issue of Frontline Magazine.

  • Cameron Jungels (‘03) and his wife Carolyn have spent the last year since graduation helping in a church-planting ministry with Pastor Nathan Young (‘02) in Suwanee, Georgia. On February 15 Cameron received a call to serve as the senior pastor at Robertson Chapel Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. On February 29 the congregation of Live Oak Baptist Church celebrated the Jungels’ last Sunday with a church-wide banquet and a special service where Cameron was the speaker.

  • Chris Seawright (’02) and his wife Heidi, along with their one-year-old daughter, Rachel, arrived safely in Cambodia in early March. Deputation is now past and a new stage of missionary ministry has begun. They will be busy for the next year with the rigors of language school and cultural adaptation.

  • Del Ward (’00) was called in November to serve as the senior pastor at First Baptist Church in Sterling Heights, Michigan. An Installation Service was held on January 18. However, he is no stranger to the folks there. He had previously served as the Associate Pastor for two years. He also served on the pastoral staff of First Baptist Church in Lake Orion, Michigan while attending seminary.

  • Scott Williquette (’90, ’93) had his article, “A Fundamentalist Response to Ecumenism,” published in the January/February issue of Frontline Magazine.

  • Nathan Young (’02) had his article, “A Fundamental Baptist Fellowship,” published in the January/February issue of Frontline Magazine.

Winter 2003 Update

  • Bryan Brock (‘03)–Bryan and Rebecca are currently on deputation, preparing to serve in church planting in southern California. They will be establishing their ministry very close to where the fires have ravaged so many communities this fall.

  • Michael Carey (’01)–Michael is currently serving at Clonmel Baptist Church in Tipperary, Ireland.

  • Brian Jones (’99, ’02)–Brian and his wife have relocated to Sycamore, Illinois, west of Chicago.

  • Daniel Kumar (‘96)–Daniel recently came through a time of severe physical testing. Following surgery on his kidneys this fall, he contracted a serious case of what was thought to be Small Pox. Instead, it turned out to be a life threatening drug allergy. Thankfully he is much better now and is beginning to resume his duties at the seminary there in India.

  • Mark Perry (’03)–Mark is currently serving in a pastoral internship at Westerville Bible Church in Westerville, OH. He and Rebekah hope to serve as missionaries in Mexico someday.

  • Andy Rynsberger (’00)–Andy accepted the pastorate of the Tofield Baptist Church in Tofield, Alberta. This is a small, independent work 30 miles east of Edmonton, AB. He is serving as a missionary church planter with Baptist World Mission.

  • Steve Sundberg (’96, ‘99)–Steve and Laurie, along with their children, completed deputation this fall, moved to Fortelaza, Brazil and have begun language school. They plan to serve in Sao Paulo following their initial training. The Sundbergs were sent out by Inter-City Baptist Church and are serving under Baptist Mid-Missions.

  • David West (’94)–On September 21st Lakeland Baptist Church in Crandon, Wisconsin voted unanimously to call David West as their next pastor. On October 1st David and Patty, along with the children, loaded up the moving truck to make the long trip from California to the Midwest. We rejoice with David over this new opportunity for ministry.

Fall 2003 Update

  • Rob Howell (’00) returned to Tanzania and the Grace Baptist Church of Mwanza in early June after a brief furlough. This summer the Howells trained several missions interns sent out through Student Global Impact and Inter-City Baptist Church. They also hosted a large missions team from First Baptist Church in Lake Orion, MI, pastored by Juan Moreno (’94, ’97). The Howells are looking forward to the addition of another missionary couple. Steve & Robin Sanders are currently on deputation raising their support. They are being sent out from Maranatha Baptist Church in Clarkston, MI, pastored by Glen Currie (’82).   • Cameron Jungels (’03) has joined the staff of Live Oak Baptist Church in Suwane, GA, pastored by Nathan Young (’02). He will be working with the music ministry and helping out in many other strategic ways in this new church plant.

  • Greg Stevens (’88) assumed his duties as pastor at First Baptist Church of Hibbing, MN on July 1. Greg's installation service was held on Sunday, August 24.

Summer 2003 Update

  • Dave Saxton ('01) - Berean Bible Church - Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

  • Doug Adamson ('99, '02) - Doug and his wife, Sharon, are now the proud parents of a beautiful little boy. Nathan Douglas Adamson was born on Sunday, April 20th. Doug continues to serve as the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

  • John Aloisi ('02) - John and Marcia welcomed the arrival of their first child, Lydia Joy, on September 6, 2002. John is working on a Th.M. degree at DBTS and serves as the Assistant Librarian.

  • Brad Anderson ('96) - Brad is now the pastor at Liberty Baptist Church in Antigo, Wisconsin. He started his new ministry there in April of this year.

  • Tim Davis ('03) - Tim and Debbie Davis are thanking the Lord for the birth of their fourth child. Blake Calvin was born on February 20th. Tim serves as an associate pastor at Tri-Lakes Baptist Church in Brighton, Michigan.

  • David Dersch ('89) - David received his Doctor of Ministry degree fr om Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary in May. He also was commissioned as a chaplain in the U.S. Air Force Reserve in July 2002. He continues to serve as the pastor of Open Door Baptist Church in Prattville, Alabama.

  • Tracy Fressel ('00) - Tracy and Marcia welcomed their third child into the family last year. Luke Andrew Fressel was born on March 26, 2002. Tracy continues to serve as the Associate Pastor for Adult Ministries at Inter-City Baptist Church in Allen Park, Michigan.

  • Daniel Habegger ('02) - Daniel and his wife Cheryl are now the proud parents of a beautiful little girl. Danelle Christine Habegger was born on April 22nd. Daniel continues to serve at Huron Baptist Church in Flat Rock, Michigan.

  • Randy Hockema ('97) - Randy and Jennifer Hockema received another blessing from the Lord this past year. Their daughter, Chloe Michal Hockema, was born on March 31, 2002. Randy continues to serve on the pastoral staff at Inter-City Baptist Church.

  • Pearson Johnson III ('01) - Pearson and Amy are thanking the Lord for the safe arrival of their second child. Pearson Lee Johnson IV was born on June 10, 2002. Pearson continues to serve as the Associate Pastor for Missions and Evangelism at Inter-City Baptist Church in Allen Park, Michigan.

  • Robert Reece ('00) - Rob is now the pastor of Pine Grove Baptist Church in Goodrich, Michigan. This new church plant was launched in April with the assistance of fellow DBTS alumnus Barry Pendley ('95). The church is currently meeting at Oak Tree Elementary School.

  • Andy Rynsburger ('00) - Andy and Kim were blessed with the safe arrival of their second child. on March 18th. Thomas John Rynsburger was born on March 18, 2003. Andy is continuing his deputation efforts with Baptist World Mission as a church planter in Canada.

  • Glenn Sanders ('88) - Glenn recently joined the staff of Calvary Bible Church in North Charleroi, PA as the Associate Pastor.

  • Mike West ('01) - Mike and Kim are rejoicing in the arrival of their second child. Carolyn Marie West was born on April 17th. Mike is the pastor of True Vine Baptist Church, a recent church plant in Santa Rosa, California.

  • Nathan Young ('02) - Nathan and Krystal moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area just before Christmas to begin working with the core group of their new church plant. Live Oak Baptist Church held its first public service on March 23rd. The church is currently meeting at the Gwinnett Sports Center. Gwinnett County is about 25 miles northeast of Atlanta along the I-85 corridor.

Spring 2003 Update

  • Tim ('99) & Alice Dysert, BWM missionaries in Spain, have received another blessing in their family. Their daughter, Lydia Elizabeth, was born on February 14th. Happy Valentine's Day! She weighed 3kg, 540g (about 7 lbs., 12 oz.) and measured 49cm (19Ό in.). They have been very busy with language school and helping with the church in Madrid.

  • Santosh ('02) & Sophie George, BWM missionaries, returned to India this winter to engage in church planting efforts there. For the Georges this was a double blessing. They were reunited with their two children who had lived with Sophie's parents, also missionaries, while Santosh completed his seminary training.

  • Chris ('02) & Heidi Seawright, GFA appointees to Cambodia, are now the proud parents of a beautiful baby girl, Rachel Elisabeth. Their bundle of joy was born February 3rd. Vital statistics: 9 lbs., 2 oz; 21 inches long.

  • Nathan ('02) & Krystal Young have moved to the metro Atlanta area to begin a church plant effort. Live Oak Baptist Church is being planted in the suburbs of Gwinnett County, northeast of Atlanta. Target cities include Buford, Suwanee, and Sugar Hill. Their core group is already in place and has begun to meet regularly for prayer and instruction. The first public worship service for the church is planned for March 23rd.

Winter 2002 Updates

  • Daniel Kumar (’96), held the first graduation exercise for Grace Baptist Theological Seminary of Coimbatore, India this past March. Nine men received degrees. The commencement speaker was Dr. David Doran of DBTS. Daniel is a church planter and also serves as the president of the seminary.
  • Tim Dysert (’99) and his family, sent out by Inter-City Baptist Church, arrived in Madrid, Spain in late summer and are busy serving under Baptist World Mission.
  • Doug Adamson (’99, ’02) has accepted a call to serve as pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
  • Kevin Ball (’01) was sent out this summer by Grace Baptist Church in Monroe, Michigan and is planting a church near Phoenix, Arizona.
  • David Smith (’01) is now serving as pastor at Western Avenue Baptist Church in Avondale, Arizona.
  • Shawn Rittmiller (‘02) began serving in September as pastor of First Baptist Church in Freeland, Michigan.
  • Ken Brown ('95) Community Baptist Church in Huron Township, Michigan
